Hey all. I'm SUPPOSED to be working on a History Assignment, and it's 1:06 AM here, but I'm lazy, like some of us are.
What's new: I submitted my first deviation today! Whoo-hoo! It's a quick ballpoint pen sketch I did a year or so ago for Kuronji, a user on Gaia Online.
And, I've written more to the Fanfiction I'm writing for MissVanja. Update reads as follows.
He shouldn't have done it. No matter how much he would be payed for going into the woods where a supposed haunted mansion was, he should never have gone in. These were his thoughts as he trekked through the trees.
"It must have been two hours since I entered these damn woods... where the hell am I..." He said to himself as he brushed passed a bush. He froze to a sudden stop as a wolf's howl broke the silence. "Man... these woods are dark and spooky... like... it's like the kind of place in RPGs where monsters just come out of the bushes and tear you apar..." He said, freezing again in fear as he thought he saw a group of bushes move. His heart was ramming his ribcage violently.
I should probably introduce our character. Matt Shadows, twenty and a half years of age, is a Five-Tailed Kitsune. He stands fairly tall, about six-foot-three, and is of solid build: Not exactly fully-toned, like the guys you'd see in a bowflex commercial, but not fat either. Kind of in-between, athletic but with a little fat around the edges. His fur is a white, creamy color, and his ears always stand erect, listening. Today, he wore blue ripped jean shorts, and a black "AFI" t-shirt, and A black headband hugged his forehead.
And now, back to his story of how he came to find the HorrorLove Hotel.
Night had begun to set, and by now, Matt was lost, and bewildered. He swallowed hard, going only where his feet led him. Something was here... he would thank his lucky stars if he found it. If only he knew...
There! Past a small set of trees, Matt found himself in front of a large gate. As he pushed to get in, it opened with a creeeeeak, like any stereotypical hidden gate would.
Looking up in awe, he realized that all the rumours were true. He was now in front of the alleged haunted mansion that had been the cause of legends and other riff-raff for decades. A statue stuck out in the garden. Upon examination, the figure was female, with long flowing hair. The inscription read, "In dedication to our founder, Ms. V." Matt studied it, thinking how beautiful she must have been in life.
Another thing that stuck out was the scarecrow. The scarecrow was... oddly enough, gentleman like. The clothes on it smelled like they were freshley laundered. Matt gave it a poke.
"Hello, Matt Shadows." The scarecrow said. Matt was awestruck. Not at the fact that the scarecrow was alive, but the fact that he... it... whatever... knew his name. The scarecrow introduced himself as Oscar.
"Okay then... Oscar." Matt said, getting used to the fact that it was alive, moving, and talking. "C... can you tell me... where I am?"
"My dear boy, you are at none other than the HorrorLove Hotel."
"The HorrorLove...?" Matt asked stupidly. "So the rumors ARE true..."
"It's a shame, really. We don't get many reservations now-a-days." Oscar said sadly. "What can I do you for?" He said, becoming suddenly happy and interested.
"I'm looking for a place to stay the night... I've been out for god knows how long..." He said. He explained to Oscar his misadventure in the woods, leaving nothing out: The rumors, the dare, the trek through the woods... Feeling a little tired, Matt sat down on the base of the statue, drumming his fingers nervously its marble. His hands wandered and he found a small alcove in the statue. In it, was a solid item, no bigger than his hand. Pulling it out, both he and Oscar came to the realization that Matt had found a key.
It was a curious little key, made of gold and decorated with two gems, both sapphires. It was attached to a silver chain, and, with it, was a small tag attached to it. The writting was worn from several years, and was barely legible. The most he could read on it was "V's Master Key". There was fairly more written, but the ages had worn it away.
"Hey, that's the key Miss V lost a while ago! She'd love it if you returned it to her. But... she doesn't deal with clients in person unless they're of absolute importance. Go on inside and give it to Mikael, the clerk at the front desk. Just tell him Oscar let you in." Oscar said, patting the boy on the back and sending him in. Matt nodded, unsure of what he was getting himself into.
The inside decor took Matt by surprise. He half-expected to see everything in a dilapidated state, but everything seemed fairly new, with gothic overtones. Light was minimal; enough to see, but dim. He wandered through the corridor, his feet making soft thuds on the carpet with each step he took.
